The Russia Midlands Business Club has
announced a date for its next networking event. It will take
place on September 23rd 2009 in the Ballroom of Council House in
Nottingham. It is hosted by Nottingham City Council and starts
at 5.30 pm.
The business club provides opportunities
for informal meetings of British companies and individuals
interested in trading with Russia. Exports to Russia from the UK
reached £4.1 billion in 2008 which is increase of 46% on
the previous year.
Nottingham has recently signed a
memorandum of understanding to establish twinning links with
Krasnodar, the capital of the region which will run the Winter
Olympics in 2014. Talk Russian’s Yelena McCafferty, who
interpreted for the Russian delegation on their visit to
Nottingham, comments: “the Olympic project in Sochi in itself
generates a lot of leads and trade opportunities in various
areas from infrastructure to hospitality. The cooperation is
mutually beneficial for Russia and the UK which will host the
Summer Olympics in 2012, so there is a lot to share and profit
from.”
Partnerships between twin cities have
always been known to help to strengthen economic links. Yelena
adds: “it is very important that UK businesses, including those
based in Nottingham, are aware of the development projects
available and I hope the next networking meeting in Nottingham
organised by the Russia Midlands Business Club will give much
insight into that. There is certainly a lot to learn and share.”
